An International Teaching Career

Since qualifying as a CELTA teacher in 2008, I've spent more than 17 years helping students from around the world improve their English with confidence.
 

My teaching career began in Mexico, before taking me to Costa Rica, where I specialised in Business English for international companies. From there I returned to the UK before joining the British Council in Madrid and later Kuwait, teaching General English alongside Cambridge examination preparation.
 

Between 2014 and 2017 I lived and worked in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, teaching General English, Business English and IELTS preparation. During this time I helped many students achieve the IELTS scores they needed to study, work and build new lives abroad in countries including Canada, Australia and the United Kingdom.
 

I later taught in Lisbon, Portugal, before returning to England, where I've continued teaching in Bristol and Bournemouth. Along the way I've worked with university students, business professionals, children, teenagers, executives, journalists and even professional footballers from AFC Bournemouth.
 

Today I teach students online from around the world, bringing together everything I've learned from teaching across seven countries and working with learners from more than thirty different nationalities.
 

Languages

As well as being a native English speaker, I'm fluent in Spanish and Portuguese. Learning these languages through living abroad has given me a genuine understanding of the challenges language learners face.
 

When appropriate, I can explain difficult grammar, vocabulary and pronunciation in Spanish or Portuguese, helping students understand concepts more quickly and feel more confident throughout their learning journey.
 

My language skills have also led to professional Portuguese–English translation work for Premier League football clubs, including translating interviews and producing subtitles for professional players and coaches.
